We all possess at least one item of makeup which we have not touched even after years of buying it or an item which we are using from like 2-3 years now. If you too own such little treasures or use them then this is the right time to stop & throw all these items away immediately.Why?
Because they are expired. Yes! Just like medicines & food items, our makeup too comes with an expiry date. In fact once a product’s seal is opened & we start using it,bacteria and microorganisms present in the air contaminate the product.
Ada segelintir kita ni punya kebiasaan buruk (perkataan baiknye 'SAYANG BARANG'), iaitu menyimpan alat kosmetik selama bertahun-tahun tapi langsung tak menggunakannya atau lagi dasyat MASIH menggunakannya! Padahal, mungkin alat kosmetik itu sudah terkena bakteria dan tak layak digunakan lagi.
Umumnya, jika sudah berubah warna, agak berwarna keabuan atau baunya berubah, menandakan kosmetik itu sudah tidak layak pakai. Walaupun terlihat masih elok, bukan bererti boleh digunakan.

The only test to check out if your makeup is expired or not is to use the “see & sniff” test. If a product has a peculiar odour or if it changes in color or consistency, then it is the time to throw it away.
Maskara: 3 Bulan
Maskara yang gelap dan basah boleh jadi tempat faveret berkembangnya bakteria. Dat's true! Maskara biasanya boleh dipakai sampai tiga bulan je, atau boleh lebih lama jika kualitinya bagus. Kerana mata merupakan organ tubuh yang sensitif, sebaiknya pilih maskara yang agak mahal karana lebih terjamin bahan yang digunakan.
Lipstik, Lipgloss & Lip Liner: 6-12 Bulan
Lamanya penggunaan lipstik, lipgloss dan lipliner tergantung dari cara Anda memakainya. Jangan biarkan tutup lipstik atau lipgloss terbuka terlalu lama, kerana mengundang bakteria membiak. Simpan di suhu ruangan dan bag kosmetik yang bersih. Jangan biasakan bertukar lipstik dengan orang lain untuk menghindari penularan penyakit. Jika lipstik sudah berbau dan berubah warna, jangan digunakan lagi. Remember!
Foundation & Concealer: 6-12 Bulan
Ciri-ciri foundation dan concealer sudah rosak, teksturnya sudah keras, menebal dan ada cairan minyak. Biasanya keaddan ini akan terlihat after 6 months used.
Eyeliner & Eyeshadow: 3-12 Bulan
Eyeliner termasuk alat kosmetik yang paling cepat membiak bakteria selain maskara. Gunakan eyeliner tak lebih dari tiga bulan. Sementara untuk eyeshadow, penggunaannya lebih lama, antara 8-12 bulan. Tapi tetap perhatikan warna dan baunya. Jika warna berubah, berbau dan teksturnya mulai berubah, throw it.
To make sure all alat make-up kita bertahan lama, simpan di tempat yang sejuk dan kering. Hindari sinar matahari langsung dan tempat yang lembab. If u are concern, pls catit tarikh pembelian di setiap alat kosmetik untuk memastikan waktu luputnya.

· Contamination of products increases when it comes in contact with unclean brushes or hands.
· Expired makeup can cause harm to your skin and can even damage your skin completely.

· Usage of expired makeup may lead to breakouts, rashes, swelling, redness and also major skin problems.
Some Tips To Minimize Contamination Of Makeup
· Always wash your hands and your face before you apply any makeup.
· Clean your makeup brushes regularly.
· Take proper care of your cosmetics.
· Store them in proper place.
· Do not expose your cosmetics in sunlight for a long time.
· Maintain a book or remember the expiry dates of your products.
· Do not share your makeup with anyone as this may result in contamination.
· Close the lid tightly after immediate use of the product.
· Also if you notice any irritations after using a certain product consult a skin specialist.
